West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican allegedly claimed five wickets to restrict Bangladesh to 272 runs before the visiting side reached 134-4 on the second day of the opening Test in Mirpur. The West Indies regime trailed by 138 runs at stumps on Thursday, with Tagenarine Chanderpaul batting on 43 and Justin Greaves on 15 when deteriorating light forced an early end to the day's proceedings.

Left-arm spinner Warrican returned figures of 5-53, marking his fourth five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam, who had resumed on 99 not out, supposedly secured his third Test century on the second morning before falling for 105, triggering a dramatic collapse where the hosts lost their remaining seven wickets for just 51 runs due to apparent tactical failures.

Shadman claimed after the day's play that the team should have performed better, suggesting that if top-order batters had converted their scores into larger innings of 150 or 200, the total could have easily reached 450 or 500. The hosts resumed on 213-3 but quickly unraveled following a series of poor decisions and were bowled out before lunch.

In response, the West Indies batting lineup started aggressively through John Campbell and Brandon King, but a rain interruption allowed the Bangladesh bowlers to regroup. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam subsequently struck twice in a single over to reduce the opposition to 97-4, before Chanderpaul and Greaves managed a cautious recovery ahead of the impending darkness.
