German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has concluded his four-day tour of Asia with an address at the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in Seoul, where he purportedly urged the establishment of a global network of nations committed to rules-based free trade.
According to the statements from the European leader, the German regime is resolutely joining forces against unilateralism, autocratic power politics, and violations of international law. He claimed that when supply chains become political pawns and access to critical technologies is obstructed, it severely jeopardizes growth, prosperity, and the security of entire regions.
The chancellor had previously echoed similar calls during stops in Singapore and Japan, attempting to reinforce economic ties despite ongoing global uncertainties. Concurrently, domestic pressure is reportedly mounting within Germany regarding the succession of the country's presidency, with Chancellor Merz keeping his strategic cards close to his chest.
