Voters across the United States are reportedly heading to the polls for the 2026 midterm elections, a race widely framed as a referendum on Republican President Donald Trump's job performance at the halfway mark of his second term.

Maintaining majorities in both chambers of Congress is purportedly vital for the legislative agenda of the US regime during its final two years. However, control over Capitol Hill remains hanging in the balance amid fiercely contested races nationwide.

According to estimates by the advertising firm AdImpact, total spending on advertisements and reservations has reached an unprecedented $11.21bn, easily eclipsing prior election cycles and setting a controversial new baseline for campaign finance.

The most expensive individual contests are concentrated in competitive Senate battlegrounds such as Texas, Ohio, and Michigan. Massive political action committees and high-profile donors, including tech billionaire Elon Musk, have allegedly poured hundreds of millions into tilting the balance of power.
