An appellate court has ruled on an incident that occurred in Zaamin District in June 2025. A 2-year-old child from a family visiting from Khorezm Region went missing and was found dead days later. Investigation revealed that the child was hit by a car driven by a paramedic at the "Zomin" sanatorium, who failed to provide assistance and concealed the body.
The Zaamin District Court on December 10, 2025, found the defendant, O.T., guilty under Part 2 of Article 117 (Abandonment in Danger) and Point "a" of Part 2 of Article 266 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison with a 3-year ban on driving all types of vehicles.
The appellate instance of Jizzakh Regional Court upheld the first-instance court's verdict on February 24, 2026. The incident took place on June 23, 2025, with the child's body discovered on a hill about a kilometer from the residence several days after disappearance.
