The Angren Thermal Power Plant (TPP) overpaid nearly 3 billion soms for gas after the supplier unilaterally and without warning applied prices higher than the contractually agreed rate.
According to the Committee for Competition and Consumer Protection, the Angren TPP operator filed a complaint about the sharp price increase without prior notification. An investigation revealed that in February 2024, gas was supplied at 265,500 soms per cubic meter, while the contract stipulated 135,900 soms.
The inflated tariff was also in effect for the first twelve days of March. The supplier's illegal revenue from the price overcharge amounted to 2.8 billion soms.
Following the investigation, a case was initiated against the company for violating the "On Competition" law, a fine was imposed, and an order was issued to refund the overpaid amount to the consumer. The case materials have been forwarded to the court.
