Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. The concept of "New Uzbekistan" in the field of ensuring and protecting human rights and freedoms was presented at the high-level segment of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council at the Palace of Nations in Geneva.

Director of the National Human Rights Center of Uzbekistan, Academician Akmal Saidov, spoke in an online format. He noted that the country adheres to the principles of the UN Charter, develops democratic institutions, and enhances the human rights system. The concept reflects a strategic course toward modernization, openness, and human rights observance.

The event was attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, as well as heads of state, foreign ministers, and heads of delegations from UN member states.

Saidov stated that the updated "Uzbekistan – 2030" Strategy serves as a national "roadmap" for achieving Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring social justice, strengthening the rule of law, and improving the population's quality of life. As part of further work, a second National Human Rights Strategy for 2026–2030 is being prepared, and a National Legal Education Program is being developed under the Fifth Phase of the UN World Program.

In 2026, the country plans to host the 5th Samarkand Forum on Human Rights, timed to the 60th anniversary of the International Covenants on Human Rights, as well as a Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians.
