On Friday, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, during his visit to Kazakhstan, together with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, visited a new mosque in the city of Turkistan. The mosque was built by Uzbekistan as a gift to the fraternal nation, according to the press service of the Uzbek leader.

The complex covers an area of over 7 hectares and can accommodate more than 5,000 worshippers. The ensemble includes four 70-meter minarets and a three-story main building with a central hall and traditional aivans. The architecture blends the finest traditions of Islamic and Eastern design.

On the adjacent 4.2-hectare area, green spaces, pedestrian paths, recreation areas, lighting systems, decorative elements, and fountains are being developed. The interior decoration extensively features examples of Islamic calligraphy and ornamental art.

During the visit, verses from the Quran were recited, and prayers were offered for peace and prosperity for the brotherly peoples.
