A fire broke out in a multi-story building under construction in Omsk, Russia, injuring 11 people, all of whom are citizens of Uzbekistan, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred on the morning of August 15 in the Dravert Quarters microdistrict. The fire started on the first floor during welding works and then spread to upper floors, covering an area of about 1,000 square meters.

The Investigative Committee of Russia for the Omsk Region reported that all victims were construction subcontractors from Uzbekistan. All 11 individuals were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

Preliminary findings suggest the fire was caused by insulation material igniting during welding operations. The prosecutor's office is currently checking compliance with fire safety and labor protection regulations. Details are being clarified.

Uzbek officials have not yet commented on the incident. This comes after 8 Uzbek citizens were killed in a drone attack on Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, on August 10, whose bodies were repatriated to Uzbekistan.
