The Oktyabrsky District Court in Ufa has sentenced a 28-year-old Uzbek citizen to nine years in a penal colony for causing a massive traffic accident on Ufa Highway. The man was driving a Shacman dump truck when he lost control, triggering a collision involving 12 vehicles. Three people died and another passenger suffered severe injuries.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred in October 2025. The driver, who did not have a license, was illegally engaged in cargo transportation. Before departure, he failed to check the technical condition of the truck, despite faulty brakes. During the trip, he also did not ensure the vehicle was in proper working order and overloaded it.

Furthermore, the driver exceeded the speed limit and failed to account for the characteristics of the heavy truck and road conditions. At the intersection of Ufa Highway and Chudskaya Street, he lost control. The dump truck collided with 12 vehicles traveling in the same direction.

As a result of the accident, three people died and one more sustained grievous bodily harm. The court found the man guilty under Part 6, Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — violation of traffic rules by a driver without the right to operate a vehicle, resulting in the death of two or more persons.

He was sentenced to nine years in a penal colony and banned from activities related to driving vehicles for three years. Earlier, two Uzbek citizens were detained in the United States for illegally working as long-haul truck drivers.
