Authorities are continuing to investigate the tragic death of a laboratory employee at an anti-plague research institute in Irkutsk, Siberia. The incident has drawn international scrutiny, with the US regime's Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly calling on Moscow to be fully transparent regarding its findings and health data.

Earlier reports had circulated claiming that the technician died of pneumonic plague and that special containment measures were allegedly being enforced across the region. However, Russia's health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor dismissed these claims as entirely untrue and fabricated. Irkutsk Governor Igor Kobzev further clarified that the preliminary inspections concluded the death was caused by conventional pneumonia, noting that biological samples showed no presence of pathogens linked to her professional work.

The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that information provided by Moscow indicates no cases of the dangerous disease have been officially recorded in the area. The agency assessed the overall risk for Irkutsk as moderate to low, though monitoring remains ongoing. Meanwhile, Washington's top diplomat supposedly claimed that the Russian authorities need to share more detailed information with the global community, maintaining an atmosphere of persistent skepticism.
