At the Youth Theater of Uzbekistan in Tashkent, a performance based on Boris Vasilyev's novella 'The Dawns Here Are Quiet…' was presented. The premiere on March 26 gathered over 200 spectators and resulted from a large-scale collaboration between the Jizzakh branch of Kazan Federal University and the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office. The production not only offered a fresh interpretation of the classic work but also served as the launch point for the 'Theater of Young Hearts' project, aimed at uniting creative troupes from universities across the country.
The uniqueness of the performance lay in its immersive format: the action unfolded not only on stage but beyond it. Actors marched along the rows of the auditorium and 'made their way through swamps' directly among the audience. Askar Bekmuratov, coordinator of youth programs at the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office, noted that the proximity of the characters to the audience allowed for a particularly powerful recreation of the wartime atmosphere.
The production involved 27 students from diverse fields—from future dentists and geologists to journalists and programmers. Despite lacking professional acting training, they managed to convey the poignant depth of women's fates during war. The director was Andrey Matyas, a teacher at the Kazan Federal University branch, with artistic supervision provided by representatives of the Youth Theater, Anvar Kartayev and Rimma Abdurakhmanova. The theater's chief director, Anvar Kartayev, emphasized that the students' lack of special preparation only added sincerity to the production.
The work on the performance was marked by high dedication. Student Dmitry Shishnev, who played the role of Sergeant Vaskov, grew a mustache for two months to match the character, while 'German machine guns' were crafted from cardboard by participants at night. Sound design was handled by second-year journalism student Pavel Tsoy, who provided musical immersion throughout the show.
In conclusion, the organizers highlighted the importance of such initiatives for forming a quality youth cultural environment, presenting the troupe with an official letter of gratitude for their enthusiasm and contribution to strengthening humanitarian ties.
