A collision between two trains occurred on the morning of April 23 near the town of Hillerød in northern Denmark, in the locality of Kagerup on the Gribskov railway network. According to police, 17 people were injured, four of them seriously.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and the injured were taken to hospital. Train services have been suspended indefinitely, and an investigation is underway.

BBC News reports that railway accidents are rare in Denmark. Speaking to the BBC, an expert speculated that the driver may have failed to obey a stop signal when departing from the station, causing the train to enter the wrong track.

The BBC also noted that the Gribskov line is not equipped with an automated safety system, raising questions about the adequacy of safety measures on this route.
