A video showing the preparation of soup from a rare snake species listed in Uzbekistan's Red Book has ignited fierce debate in the country's social media segment. The footage depicts the process of cooking an eastern boa, a protected species, as part of a so-called medical treatment.

The video's author, who claims to be a specialist in curing all diseases, promotes snake meat as a panacea. However, experts warn that such advice is dangerous misinformation, as there is no scientifically proven medicinal value in consuming snake meat. Additionally, from a religious perspective, eating snakes is considered impermissible in Islam.

Environmentalists have also expressed serious concern. The destruction of rare species for dubious medical procedures constitutes a gross violation of environmental legislation and poses a direct threat to the country's biodiversity. In response, the public is urging relevant authorities to provide a legal assessment of the video creator's actions and to strengthen oversight of the promotion of such methods online.

Previously, a resident of the Fergana region illegally kept hedgehogs and snakes, cooked them, and sold them. Ecologists and law enforcement officers reviewed a video showing two people boiling soup from wild animals. The case documents have been sent to court.
