Smart cameras are being installed on a trial basis in schools in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of the capital. They are used as an additional tool to effectively organize attendance control.
The Ministry of Preschool and School Education commented on the situation after the initiative sparked active discussion on social media.
According to the ministry, student attendance is recorded daily by homeroom teachers and instructors via the e-maktab platform.
If a student misses classes without a valid reason, the school's inspector-psychologist sends an official warning letter to the parents. It requires ensuring the child's regular attendance and explains that failure to comply may result in legal liability.
The ministry noted that if systematic truancy is detected, parents may be held liable under Article 47 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (Failure to fulfill duties in raising and educating children).
It is emphasized that the smart cameras, installed in test mode in some schools of the Mirzo Ulugbek district, help school administrations track student presence in lessons and allow parents to monitor their child's situation online and ensure their safety.
