According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, as of May 6, 2026, Uzbekistan is home to 60 participants of World War II and those equated to them.
Among them are 19 former concentration camp prisoners, 14 war participants, 14 war invalids, and 13 participants of the Siege of Leningrad.
The regional distribution of veterans: Tashkent city – 17, Tashkent region – 9, Bukhara region – 7, Fergana region – 6, Samarkand region – 5, Andijan region – 4, Namangan region – 3, Jizzakh region – 2, Kashkadarya region – 2, Khorezm region – 2, Surkhandarya region – 1.
No veterans remain in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Navoi, and Syrdarya regions. A year ago, the total list numbered 82.
It is worth recalling that on May 9, Memorial and Remembrance Day, each WWII participant and war invalid will receive a one-time payment of 30 million soums.
