Mirtemir, who wrote under the pen name Mirtemir Tursunmuhammad oglu, was born on May 30, 1910, in the village of Iqon in the Turkestan region. He studied at an old school from 1919−1920, and from 1920−1923 at the Almai model labor school in Tashkent. From 1925 to 1929, he continued his education at the Uzbek Pedagogical Institute.
In 1928, while still a student, he published his first poetry collection, "In the Embrace of Rays." Between 1929 and 1939, his books "Zafar," "My Boilings," and "Bong" (1932) were released. He also wrote works such as "Barot," "Xidir," "Dilkusho," "Suv qizi," "Ko'zi," and "Surat."
Mirtemir translated the Kyrgyz epic "Manas" and works by Pushkin, Nekrasov, Abay, Mahtumkuli, and Berdaq into Uzbek. He passed away on January 25, 1978. Posthumously, in 2002, he was awarded the Order of "For Great Services."
