Ozod Sharofiddinov was born on March 1, 1929, in the village of Oxunqaynar, Fergana Region. He studied at the philology faculty of Tashkent State University and completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of World Literature in Moscow. He worked as a professor at the National University of Uzbekistan and was active in the journals "Tafakkur" and "Jahon adabiyoti".
His works include "Zamon. Qalb. Poeziya" (1962), "Adabiy etyudlar" (1968), "Yalovbardorlar" (1974-1976), "Iste'dod jilolari" (1974-1976), "Birinchi mo‘jiza" (1979-1985), "Talant — xalq mulki" (1979-1985), "Adabiyot — hayot darsligi" (1979-1985), "Hayot bilan hamnafas" (1979-1985), and "Go‘zallik izlab" (1979-1985). Later, he authored "Cho‘lpon" (1991-1997), "Cho‘lponni anglash" (1991-1997), "E'tiqodimni nega o‘zgartirdim" (1991-1997), "History of 20th Century Uzbek Literature" (1997), and the textbook "20th Century Uzbek Literature" (1999).
In 2004, he completed the book "Ijodni anglash baxti" and translated works by Françoise Sagan, Boynovich, Paulo Coelho, Leo Tolstoy, and Ephraim Sevela into Uzbek. He passed away in 2005.
Gazeta "O‘zbekiston Qahramoni" prepared a test based on his creative works.
