An attempt to smuggle gold was intercepted at the "Dustlik" border customs post in the Khodjaabad district of Andijan region.
A 41-year-old woman and her 20-year-old daughter hid seven non-standard gold bars weighing 473 grams under their clothing. Their value is estimated at 819 million Uzbek sum. The women were detained on the spot.
The bars were confiscated, and a criminal case has been initiated against the violators under Article 182, Part 2, point "a" ("Violation of Customs Legislation"). An investigation is underway.
Previously, a man attempted to smuggle gold across the border by hiding bars in his shoes.
