Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. According to the National Committee on Statistics, as of January 1, 2026, the number of women in Uzbekistan stood at 18.9 million people – the fair half of humanity constitutes 49.6% of the country's permanent population.
The largest number of women resides in the Samarkand region – over 2.17 million people. This is followed by the Fergana region (2.09 million), Kashkadarya region (1.83 million), and Andijan region (1.73 million). In Tashkent city, 1.61 million women live, while in the Tashkent region, the figure is 1.57 million.
In the Namangan region, the number of women is 1.56 million, in the Surkhandarya region – 1.48 million, in the Bukhara region – 1.05 million, and in the Khorezm region – 1.03 million. In the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 1.02 million women reside.
Among the regions with the smallest number of women are Syrdarya region – only 471 thousand people, Navoi region – 548.7 thousand, and Jizzakh region – 776 thousand. The lower number of women is linked to the overall low population in these regions.
It is recalled that by the beginning of 2026, the permanent population of the republic reached 38.2 million people, increasing by nearly 700 thousand citizens over the year.
