An 8-year-old boy was killed by a pack of stray dogs in the "Istiqlol" neighborhood of Angren, Uzbekistan, while returning from school. The incident was reported by the local news agency Podrobno.uz, with the child pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Millar program on Milliy TV channel, the boy's mother was at work and his father was working in Russia at the time of the tragedy. The neighborhood chairman stated that the family had moved to Angren from the Bekabad district and was living in a rented apartment. The city mayor and responsible services have taken control of the situation.
This tragedy highlights ongoing issues with stray animals in Angren. Previously, a court in the city ruled against a group of employees from the city's animal control service in Tashkent region, who were found guilty of brutally killing a dog on institutional premises. They were sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest, and the organization's leadership promised to dismiss them.
The incident has raised serious concerns among local residents and authorities regarding animal control and safety measures. It underscores the need for enhanced actions by city management to improve animal management and ensure child protection in the area.
