Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Singapore, concurrently accredited to New Zealand, Alisher Kayumov, presented his credentials to New Zealand Governor-General Cindy Kiro. The ceremonial event took place at the Government House residence in Wellington, as reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan was welcomed in accordance with the traditions of the Māori people, with an official ceremony and military honors. This ritual reflects the cultural richness of the country and underscores the respect and friendly relations between the two nations.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbek-New Zealand relations, including the development of cooperation in political, trade-economic, scientific, and educational spheres. The discussion encompassed efforts to expand multifaceted ties between the two countries.

Governor-General Cindy Kiro noted the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, highlighting achievements in modernizing public administration, developing civil society, and improving the investment climate. This indicates international recognition of Uzbekistan's progress on the global stage.
