Uzbekistan has been ranked among the top five countries globally for achieving the most significant positive changes in the Sustainable Development Goals over the past decade. Speaking at the 59th meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Board of Governors, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev outlined ambitious targets for 2030: increasing the economy to over $240 billion, reaching upper-middle-income country status, and completely eradicating poverty.

The head of state emphasized that achieving these goals is impossible without transitioning all sectors to a model of technological and innovative growth. In this context, special attention is being paid to digital transformation and artificial intelligence. The republic has already started creating an AI Hub, launching supercomputers, and implementing a large-scale program to train “Five Million AI Leaders” to modernize key economic sectors.

The president proposed developing a special program under the ADB to scale AI technologies in developing countries and expressed intention to open a regional coordination center for the “Digital Silk Road for Asia” initiative in Tashkent. According to him, the use of open AI models is vital in such critical areas as education, healthcare, ecology, and food security.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also expressed deep gratitude to ADB President Masato Kanda, as well as the leadership of the World Bank, IMF, and other international financial institutions for their long-term support of reforms. It was noted that the joint portfolio of completed and ongoing projects with the Asian Development Bank alone has reached an impressive $16 billion.
