In Surkhandarya region, an assistant judge of the regional court has been detained on suspicion of accepting a large bribe. The operation was conducted by the State Security Service and the Prosecutor's Office.

According to the SSS, the detainee attempted to use his official position for personal gain and offered relatives of two defendants assistance in mitigating their sentences. Specifically, he promised to revise the amount of damages totaling 6.3 billion soums, impose a punishment not involving imprisonment, and change the pre-trial detention measure.

For his “services,” he demanded $53,000 and was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe.

A criminal case has been initiated against him on charges of large-scale fraud and incitement to bribery. Investigative actions are ongoing.
