In the old part of Bukhara, tourists narrowly escaped injury due to the negligence of an illegal balloon seller. Footage shared on social media shows people sitting at tables in a cafe as a cluster of balloons flies past them, suddenly igniting and exploding. The cafe visitors managed to run to safety.
According to the regional police press service, the incident occurred in the historic part of the city. A large number of gas-filled balloons rose into the air and came into contact with a power line, causing a short circuit. The balloons then burst into flames and exploded.
An investigation revealed that the balloons were sold by a 19-year-old citizen. He purchased ordinary balloons at the market and filled them with household natural gas at a friend's private home.
Administrative protocols were drawn up against the seller and the homeowner. Residents are urged to be cautious when buying balloons from street vendors and to remember that experimenting with gas endangers the lives and health of others.
Earlier, it was reported that balloons were being used as a disguise by drug dealers. Criminals place illicit substances inside them and sell them on the roads.
