The Tashkent Traffic Organization Center has announced the start of a new enforcement measure: towing vehicles that violate parking and stopping rules to special impound lots. This initiative is part of a broader effort to create a more orderly urban environment.
According to the Center, cars are frequently found parked on sidewalks, near pedestrian crossings, at bus stops, in green zones, and under no-parking signs across various districts of the capital. Such violations hinder the safe and free movement of pedestrians, particularly the elderly, parents with strollers, and people with disabilities.
Additionally, improperly parked vehicles obstruct public transport and emergency services (ambulances, fire trucks), creating safety hazards and traffic disruptions. The Center emphasized that these issues also negatively impact the city's overall appearance.
Under the new rules, vehicles left in violation will be towed to designated impound lots. Owners will be required to pay a fine to retrieve their cars. The exact fine amount and towing fees have not been disclosed but are expected to follow existing traffic regulations.
The Center urged drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules when choosing parking spots and to avoid leaving vehicles in prohibited areas that could obstruct traffic or endanger public safety. The measure aims to establish order on the streets, ensure traffic safety, and keep public spaces accessible and safe for all residents.
