In recent days, videos have circulated on social media showing sausage products being sold for 5,000 Uzbek soums in Tashkent. The footage depicts the sausages being sold outdoors without refrigeration, with unknown origin and ingredients.
Kun.uz contacted the Tashkent City Department of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Committee. According to the press service, the composition of the sausage is unknown, the quality is unconfirmed, and there is no clear information about the manufacturer, ingredients, or expiration date.
Sanitary regulations require that product packaging include the manufacturer, composition, storage conditions, and shelf life. Without this information, the product is considered unfit for consumption and may pose a health risk.
The department reported that sellers were warned twice, fined, and large batches of the product were destroyed. However, no laboratory tests were conducted to determine the composition or potential harm.
The videos suggest the sausage is being actively purchased and has entered circulation. In food safety, timely action is critical. Expected measures would include immediate removal from sale, expert examination, and public disclosure of results.
The Tashkent City Department stated that there are legal aspects related to interference in business activities, and the issue is being studied jointly with the Business Ombudsman. Results will be announced later.
For reference: as of May 13, 1 kg of beef in Tashkent costs between 129,000 and 140,000 UZS, and chicken meat between 35,000 and 39,000 UZS.
