A video circulating on social media shows a Malibu driver narrowly avoiding running over pedestrians who were crossing the road at a crosswalk. In the footage, the driver performs a dangerous maneuver and almost hits people, including a woman with a baby stroller. A tragedy was averted only because the pedestrians managed to notice the car in time.

According to the Samarkand Region Traffic Safety Department, the incident occurred on September 8 at 22:20 on Mirzo Ulugbek Street in Samarkand. The driver of the Malibu 2 endangered the lives of eight pedestrians by failing to yield and committing a gross violation of traffic rules.

The driver's identity has been established. A preventive talk was held with him. In his statement, the man said: "At that moment I was in a bit of a hurry. My brakes failed on the right, so I changed from the first lane to the third. God saved me from hitting the pedestrians. I apologize a thousand times to the citizens, to those pedestrians, and to the traffic police officers. This will not happen again. I regret what I did. It won't happen a second time."

An administrative protocol was drawn up against the man under Article 128-10 of the Administrative Responsibility Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Road hooliganism). An investigation is ongoing.
