The presidential press service has announced plans to reduce excessive bureaucratic procedures in the awarding of academic degrees in Uzbekistan.
Specifically, the digitization of dissertation defense procedures is expected to cut the process by 50%.
Planned changes include eliminating redundant requirements such as printing large numbers of documents, preparing extensive abstracts, and re-discussing dissertations.
These measures are intended to create more comfortable conditions for researchers and reduce time and financial costs.
Additionally, to strengthen the integration of science and the real economy, the introduction of programs such as "Scientific Degree within a Project" and "Practical Doctorate" has been proposed, allowing for PhD degrees to be obtained through applied research projects.
Under these approaches, doctoral research will be shaped by the practical needs of production and the economy. Scientific inquiries will be conducted in cooperation with real-sector enterprises, with a focus on implementing their results in practice.
