According to Podrobno.uz, four higher education institutions in Samarkand are set to be reorganized, with a new technical university to be established on the basis of the Architecture and Construction University.
This is stipulated in a presidential decree titled “On Measures to Further Improve the Activities of Higher Education Organizations in Samarkand Region.”
Under the document, a state technical university will be created on the basis of the Architecture and Construction University. The branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies will be merged with Samarkand State University (SamSU).
The Urgut branch of SamSU will be transferred to the Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute. The branch of Tashkent State University of Economics will be merged with the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service.
Starting this autumn, teachers and doctoral students from these institutions will be sent for advanced training and scientific internships at leading foreign universities. From the 2027/2028 academic year, an advanced engineering school for intelligent water technologies will be opened at Samarkand State Technical University.
Earlier, Podrobno.uz reported that Uzbekistan had presented the concept of the first fully digital university in the field of ecology and climate.
