Uzbekistan's retail and wholesale trade turnover has exceeded 320 trillion soums in the first four months of the year, according to the State Statistics Committee. This figure is significantly higher than the same period last year.

As of May 1, 2026, there are 101,200 enterprises operating in the retail trade sector, of which 558 are large and 100,600 are small businesses and micro-firms.

In January-April, retail trade turnover reached 165.86 trillion soums, an increase of nearly 22.9% compared to the same period in 2025. Large enterprises accounted for 29.5 trillion soums (growth of 26.1%), while small businesses and private entrepreneurs contributed 113.8 trillion soums (growth of 21.3%).

Regionally, the fastest growth was recorded in Karakalpakstan at 37.5%, while the lowest was in Tashkent region at 4.6%.

At the start of May, there were 57,300 wholesale trade enterprises registered, including 517 large and 56,800 small entities. Wholesale turnover in the four months totaled 155.9 trillion soums, up 12.7% year-on-year.

Large enterprises' wholesale turnover was 44.8 trillion soums (growth of 9.9%), while small businesses contributed 111.1 trillion soums (growth of 13.9%). The highest growth was in Fergana region (25.2%), and the lowest in Namangan region (5.6%).

As of May 1, 2026, there are over 32,200 public catering enterprises, including cafes and restaurants, of which only 266 are large and 32,000 are small. Their turnover reached 69.8 trillion soums in January-April, up 7.2%, with small businesses and private entrepreneurs accounting for 79.8% of total revenue.
