Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov reported to the Legislative Chamber on railway transport issues. He announced that electric train service on the Bukhara – Urgench – Khiva route will be launched by the end of this year.

The final version of the feasibility study for the separate high-speed railway line Tashkent – Samarkand has been developed. Work is underway to complete the project and launch train services by 2030.

Construction of a 10.8-kilometer railway line connecting the Urgench International Airport with the city of Urgench is actively ongoing. By August 1, the line will be electrified and modern electric trains will begin operation.

By the end of the year, transport interchange hubs will be created to integrate electric trains arriving in the Tashkent agglomeration with public transport. Specifically, railway stops will be built near the Choshtepa, Shakhristan, and Turon metro stations.

In 2024, two modern EP3D electric trains were delivered from Russia for suburban services and launched on the Tashkent – Khodzhikent – Chirchik route. This year, two modern electric trains were produced jointly with foreign partners. One has been operating on a circular route in the Fergana Valley since April 30. In July, the second electric train will be launched on the Tashkent – Gazalkent – Khodzhikent and the newly built Tashkent – Parkent routes.

Two high-speed electric trains 'Jaloliddin Manguberdi' were delivered this year, with four more to be supplied. Tests are being conducted on the Tashkent – Khiva – Tashkent route, and regular service will begin after successful completion.

The modernization of existing Tashkent – Andijan and Tashkent – Termez lines is under consideration, along with the launch of eight high-speed electric trains manufactured by China's CRRC on these routes. Special trainsets will be used on mountain passes, and an additional four 'Jaloliddin Manguberdi' high-speed trains will be supplied.

Plans include the purchase of 10 modern electric trains from Czech company Skoda Transportation, which will allow transporting an additional 5.2 million passengers per year on popular routes. A memorandum has been signed to begin production of electric trains with Skoda Transportation. Deliveries will start in 2027, and services will be gradually organized on the following routes: Termez – Samarkand, Urgench – Nukus, Tashkent – Angren, Tashkent – Bekabad, Tashkent – Boysun – Kurgan, Samarkand – Karshi – Shakhrisabz, Tashkent – Angren, Tashkent – Khodzhikent – Chirchik. Negotiations are also underway with other European companies to purchase an additional 10 modern electric trains.
