In a bid to develop the public transport system, improve service quality, and modernize the fleet, 30 Zhongtong-branded buses have been delivered to the Khorezm region from China, according to the Ministry of Transport.

The buses were purchased by Bunyod Yolovchi Tashish LLC and brought to the region. This brings the total number of new buses delivered to the region since the beginning of the year to 90 units.

The modern vehicles are planned to be deployed on inner-city bus routes in Urgench under gross contracts in the coming days. This is expected to provide passengers with more convenient, safe, and high-quality transport services, while enhancing the overall efficiency of the public transit system.

Zhongtong buses are manufactured by Zhongtong Bus Holding Co., Ltd., based in Shandong Province, China. Earlier, the region also received 10 hybrid trolleybuses from China's Yutong company, which operate on a route connecting Urgench International Airport, Urgench railway station, and Khiva railway station.

The introduction of these trolleybuses has reduced waiting intervals from 25 minutes to 12 minutes. Additionally, the region is gradually transitioning to fully electronic fare payment on public transport. In the first phase, starting July 1, cashless payment was introduced on several bus routes and the T1 trolleybus route between Urgench and Khiva. In the second phase, the system will be extended to remaining routes once gross contracts are formalized. The fare has been set at 3,000 soums.
