At the next plenary session on Saturday, the Senate approved the Law 'On Protection of the Population from Harmful Effects of Noise', the press service of the upper house of parliament reported.

Senators noted that in practice there is no single legal document comprehensively regulating the fight against harmful noise that negatively affects the health and tranquility of the population and its normal rest. Despite 7 sanitary norms and rules, the legislation does not establish strict requirements in this regard. Also, the legislation does not fully and clearly define issues of bringing to responsibility objects that create noise harmful to human health and exceeding permissible levels.

This law clearly defines general rules for protecting the population from harmful noise effects, the powers of state bodies in this area, as well as measures to protect the population from harmful noise effects.

It also provides for norms concerning noises that disturb the peace and normal rest of citizens, time intervals during which disturbance of peace and normal rest of citizens is not allowed, and compensation payments for harmful noise effects.

In addition, the rights and obligations of individuals and legal entities to protect the population from harmful noise effects are defined.

The upper house of parliament noted that the adoption of the document contributes to regulating relations on protecting the population from harmful noise effects.

Recall that the bill on violation of peace and tranquility of citizens was adopted by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on the third attempt in October last year. Earlier, deputies twice rejected the bill, sending it for revision. Now the document must be signed by the head of state.
