Uzbekistan has reduced the period during which old tariffs for hot water and heating apply under advance payments for individuals from 12 to 2 months. This two-month period is calculated not from the date of tariff increase, but from the date of payment. Retention of the old tariff through advance payments for legal entities is not provided.
Changes have been made to the rules for providing heating services in apartment buildings. According to them, when tariffs are raised, individuals are exempt from additional payments for the service for no more than 2 months from the date of payment under advance payments. This was reported by the press service of Veolia Energy Tashkent. Previously, this period was 12 months.
How does the new procedure differ from the similar one for gas and electricity? When tariffs for electricity and natural gas are increased, calculations at old tariffs within the balance of funds on the subscriber's account are made for up to 2 months. In this case, it is sufficient that the advance payment was made before the new tariffs come into force.
In heating supply, the exact date of payment is important. The two-month period during which the old tariff is maintained begins not from the date of the increase, but from the date of the advance payment. Therefore, it is more profitable for heat consumers to pay for the service one day before the tariff increase to fully use the two-month period.
In addition, when tariffs for gas and electricity are increased, the old tariff under advance payments applies to individuals for up to 2 months, and for legal entities — up to 1 month. In heating supply, such a grace period is not provided for legal entities; the two-month period applies only to individuals.
Tariffs for heating and hot water in Tashkent were last raised in November 2025 — by 15% for the population and 40% for legal entities.
