In the Jondor district of Bukhara region, a fire set to reeds resulted in the burning of 50 trees, causing ecological damage estimated at 202.7 million soums. This was reported by the regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change.
The fire occurred on the territory of the 'Charos' children's health camp and the adjacent 'B.S.B.' farm in Jondor district.
An investigation revealed that citizen S.B. and other unidentified individuals set fire to the reeds around a collector ditch. As a result, a total of 50 trees were damaged: 38 were completely destroyed and 12 were partially damaged.
According to expert conclusions, the fire damaged 38 valuable turanga trees, 5 valuable jida trees, and 7 less valuable white poplar trees.
The Department of Ecology calculated the ecological damage to nature at 202 million 704 thousand soums.
All necessary documents have been formalized. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 198 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (intentional damage, trampling, or destruction of crops, forests, trees, or other vegetation causing large-scale damage). Preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Investigative Department of the Jondor District Internal Affairs Department.
Under Part 3 of Article 198, intentional damage or destruction of crops, forests, trees, or other vegetation causing large-scale damage is punishable by a fine of 500 to 600 times the base calculation value, 360 to 480 hours of community service, 2 to 3 years of correctional labor, or restriction or deprivation of liberty for 3 to 5 years.
Earlier, in the Bostanliq district of Tashkent region, 27 trees were illegally destroyed on a plot allocated for construction, causing over 2 billion soums in damage to the plant world.
