The State Security Service reported the suppression of illegal actions by two lawyers in the Samarkand region. One of them promised to reduce the sentence of a convict serving time in a penal colony in the Jizzakh region through acquainted officials.

The lawyer was caught red-handed while receiving $15,000 from an acquaintance of the convict. The second lawyer, operating in the Kushrabot district of Samarkand region, acted as a defense attorney in a criminal case heard in the district court and promised to secure a lighter sentence for the defendant.

He demanded $2,000 from the defendant's son for assistance through acquainted officials and was detained while receiving the money. Criminal cases have been initiated against both lawyers, and investigative actions are underway.
