Law enforcement officers in Uzbekistan have detained a 41-year-old resident of Shahrisabz who turned a greenhouse into a cannabis plantation. According to the press service of the Kashkadarya Regional Department of Internal Affairs, a total of 714 cannabis bushes were found.
The operation was conducted as part of a large-scale preventive campaign called "Safe and Healthy Country." The suspect had set up the greenhouse on a plot of 5.3 acres. The total net weight of the seized plants amounted to 201 kilograms.
A criminal case has been initiated, and the suspect has been placed in custody as a preventive measure.
Earlier, in the Zharkurgan district of Surkhandarya region, law enforcement officers uncovered two cases of illegal cultivation of narcotic plants. More than 300 opium poppy bushes and about three kilograms of dried raw material were seized from the detainees.
