Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. Authorities plan to build new-format schools in Tashkent that can accommodate twice as many students, as well as create artificial lakes, improve canals, and expand green areas.
This was announced at a meeting chaired by the president dedicated to the socio-economic development of the Sergeli district of Tashkent.
The head of state noted that some schools in Sergeli operate at 1.5–2 times their design capacity. In this regard, it was proposed to build new-type schools that will increase the number of student places without expanding the territory.
According to the project, gyms, canteens, and workshops will be located in basement premises, while the upper floors will be entirely devoted to classrooms. This approach will almost double the capacity of schools. This year, it is planned to introduce this model in each district of the capital — one school and one kindergarten.
At the same time, Tashkent will begin creating artificial lakes to improve the urban microclimate. A total of 12 reservoirs are planned, three of which will appear in Sergeli — in the mahallas of Kushkurgan, Sultanobod, and Farogatli. The total area will be 22 hectares. These territories will become recreation areas with opportunities for walks.
In addition, work has begun on concreting a five-kilometer section of the Junarik Canal passing through Sergeli and Yangihayot. By the end of the year, it is planned to arrange a promenade and "health alleys" along the canal.
Another area of improvement will be the territory along the Chirchik River. On a 16-kilometer stretch, the riverbed will be strengthened, an additional "green belt" of 300 hectares will be created, and park areas, pedestrian and bicycle paths will be arranged.
Earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that in recent years Sergeli has ceased to be a suburb of Tashkent and has become one of the actively developing districts of the capital.
