Bukhara region has received 76 modern buses manufactured in China, according to the regional administration. The purchase was made by local entrepreneurs to provide high-quality public transport services to residents and visitors.

The ceremony marking the buses' commissioning was attended by regional governor Botir Zaripov. He noted that a total of 101 new buses have been delivered to Bukhara region in 2026 alone. The first 25 Yutong buses were put into operation on two gross-route contracts in February by 'Bux Pit-Stop NGP' LLC.

The new buses will also be assigned to city routes under gross contracts. They were brought by 'Progress Mega Trans', 'Miramax Turist Trans', 'Buxaraneveshservis', and 'Miramax Travel' LLCs. In the second phase of the project, another 86 modern buses are planned to be delivered by the end of this year.

This year, Bukhara city has developed a master plan for transport and road infrastructure development aimed at improving public transport and reducing traffic congestion. The plan includes the creation of 21 new bus routes and the construction of transport interchanges in densely populated areas.

Additionally, an 'Intelligent Traffic Light' system is being introduced at 113 intersections, and dedicated bus lanes are being established on several streets to prioritize bus movement. It was previously reported that cash payments were stopped on 7 bus routes in Bukhara from February 1, and all routes are planned to switch to electronic payment system from April.
