President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the metal rolling process controlled from a single control panel at the casting and rolling complex of the Uzbek Metallurgical Plant.
In recent years, special attention has been paid to modernizing the plant and increasing its production capacity. As a result, the enterprise's net profit increased from $14 million in 2017 to $23 million in 2025.
The foundation stone for the casting and rolling complex was laid by the head of state during his visit to Bekabad on August 29, 2018.
The total cost of the project is $839 million. This strategically important complex, built on an area of 18 hectares, is designed to meet the country's growing demand for metal products.
It is planned to increase total production volume to 2 million tons, additionally produce 1.04 million tons of rolled sheet, and bring the total number of employees at the plant to 7,000 people.
Based on the experience of the Italian company Danieli, the continuous steel casting unit is integrated with all technological equipment for the first time and controlled from a single control panel.
With the previous technology, processes had to be controlled from 4-5 panels operated by nine employees, but now, thanks to the unified control system, only three specialists monitor the process.
The President emphasized the need to introduce artificial intelligence technologies into the unified control system and further improve the stability and economic efficiency of the complex.
In terms of safety and equipment speed, this complex is unique and has no analogues in Central Asia. In particular, it is possible to replace the main rolls automatically, without stopping the production process and without human intervention, in just 5-7 minutes instead of the previous 30-40 minutes.
The President also reviewed samples of products made from rolled sheet.
Information from responsible officials was also heard. In particular, the value chain in the production of hot-rolled sheet and products recommended for development in the republic were reported.
