️ A criminal case against 30-year-old M.M., accused of mercenary activity, was heard in the Gijduvan District Criminal Court, according to a court verdict reported by UzNews.uz correspondent.

️ According to case materials, the defendant traveled to Russia in 2024 for work. One day, he and an acquaintance were stopped by police and taken to a station. He claimed a conflict ensued, leading to a fight with the officers.

️ He was told that using force against a police officer could result in a prison sentence. At the same time, he was offered a contract to participate in the war between Russia and Ukraine. M.M. stated he was forced to sign the contract under these circumstances.

️ The Uzbek citizen was sent to a military unit in Belouska, where he underwent combat training. During hostilities, he was wounded and subsequently hospitalized.

️ In February 2026, he was granted leave and returned to Uzbekistan, where he voluntarily reported the incident to law enforcement upon arrival.

️ The court found M.M. guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 154 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (Mercenary activity). He was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment.
