A court in the Buka district of the Tashkent region has concluded the trial of a mass poisoning incident that affected children at preschool institutions in September 2025. Eleven individuals were convicted.
The incident occurred in September 2025 in five districts of the Tashkent region: Pskent, Buka, Bekabad, Quyichirchiq, and Oqqo'rg'on. A total of 1,922 children underwent medical examinations, with hundreds hospitalized showing symptoms of acute gastroenteritis.
The court found all defendants guilty under Part 1 of Article 257-1 of the Criminal Code (violation of sanitary legislation or rules for combating epidemics).
The harshest sentences were handed to three employees of Shark Milk Product: the director, chief technologist, and technologist each received 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
Three other representatives of the same company—the founder and sales manager, deputy director, and assistant technologist—were sentenced to three years in prison.
Directors of companies Governess Business, Innavation Outsourcing Servise, Nishon Invest, and Kinder Garden Group, as well as a laboratory assistant from Shark Milk Product, were sentenced to three years of restricted freedom. Additionally, all convicts were banned from engaging in certain professional activities as per Article 45 of the Criminal Code.
