Narimonjon Numonovich Ismailov, who served as director of the Navoi Industrial Development Complex special industrial park, has been appointed mayor of Bekobod city in Tashkent region. This was reported by the regional administration's press service.

On July 14, an extraordinary session of the city council of people's deputies was held in the city. At the session, regional governor Zoyir Mirzayev made an analytical report on shortcomings in the implementation of tasks for the socio-economic development of the city and on upcoming important tasks.

At the meeting, Nasrulla Babayev, who had been mayor since May 2022, was dismissed from his post. Ismailov was appointed in his place.

For reference, the new mayor began his career in 2017 as head of the Main Department of Economy and Complex Development of Tashkent city. He later headed the Navoi industrial park.

A day earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Bekobod on a newly launched electric train. During the visit, the head of state familiarized himself with new projects at the Uzbek Metallurgical Combine and also visited the "Do'stlik" mahalla.
