Tashkent, Podrobno.uz. Muhammadismail Rakhmonov brought Uzbekistan its first gold medal at the Asian Age Group Aquatics Championships underway in Bangkok. Another medal was added to the national team's tally by Parizod Abdukarimova, who climbed to the third step of the podium.

Uzbek swimmer Muhammadismail Rakhmonov won the final of the men's 200m breaststroke. He covered the distance in 2 minutes 16.17 seconds, confidently outpacing his main rivals — Ray Huang from Chinese Taipei (2:17.08) and Wu Yulong from Hong Kong (2:18.01). This award is the first gold medal for the Uzbek delegation at the current continental championship.

In the women's competition, Parizod Abdukarimova won a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke. Our athlete posted a time of 1 minute 04.71 seconds. The victory in this final went to Vietnam's Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Tien (1:03.84), while second place was taken by host competitor Kanistha Tungnapakorn from Thailand (1:04.14).
