In recent days, amid an abnormal heatwave, residents of Tashkent have increasingly complained on social media about non-functioning air conditioners in public transport.

According to the press service of JSC Toshshahartransxizmat, 1,672 buses and electric buses of Mercedes-Benz, SAZ LE-60, MAN, Yutong, and King Long brands are deployed on routes daily.

However, all 102 Mercedes-Benz buses in service, 100 out of 272 MAN buses, and 88 out of 201 SAZ LE-60 buses were not equipped with cabin cooling systems by the manufacturer.

Additional strain on the air conditioning systems of Chinese-made Yutong and King Long buses and electric buses is caused by abnormally high air temperatures, direct sunlight exposure, frequent door opening and closing at stops, and high passenger numbers.

“In such extreme conditions, even fully functional air conditioning systems may not provide their nominal cooling capacity in full,” the statement said.

It was emphasized that during the abnormal summer heat, the decrease in cooling efficiency is often not due to equipment malfunction, but is a natural technical feature of the cooling system operating under extreme temperatures and reduced heat exchange efficiency.

JSC Toshshahartransxizmat stated that the company is making every effort to create comfortable conditions for passengers and asked for understanding regarding these temporary inconveniences caused by weather conditions.
