Social media users reported unauthorized renovation work at the 'Movi Gumbaz' (Blue Domes) cafe, a protected cultural heritage site in Uzbekistan. The Cultural Heritage Agency has responded to the incident.
Agency officials arrived at the scene around 10:00 PM on July 20 to conduct an inspection. They found that repair work was being carried out on the roof of the building without approval from the relevant authorities. The agency took measures to halt the work immediately.
The management of the facility was reminded that any repair, restoration, or construction work on cultural heritage sites can only be performed with a special permit from authorized bodies. Instructions were given to comply with legal requirements.
The agency noted that the 'Movi Gumbaz' cafe is listed in the National Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage Properties of Uzbekistan and is considered an example of modernist architecture under state protection.
