At a presentation on Monday attended by the president, dedicated to further improving drinking water supply and sewage services, issues of ensuring financial stability of water supply enterprises were discussed.

The head of state pointed out that due to incomplete coverage of actual service costs by current tariffs and large regional disparities, the investment attractiveness of the sector is declining.

In this regard, it was proposed to separate the functions of production and supply of drinking water to consumers, as well as to create a main water supply enterprise. It will supply drinking water to regional enterprises at a single wholesale tariff.

Tasks were set to create an Interdepartmental Tariff Commission to set tariffs for drinking water supply and sewage services based on transparent and economically justified criteria, as well as to introduce a single tariff for budget organizations from April 1, 2027.

According to forecasts, by 2030, due to demographic and economic growth, drinking water consumption in the country will increase by another 230 million cubic meters in addition to the current 941 million cubic meters, which requires accurate accounting of water resources and reduction of losses.

In this regard, tasks were set to fully transfer settlements with consumers to online mode, equip all consumers in cities and district centers with modern water meters with remote data transmission function.

The president also ordered to reduce water losses from 35% to 25% by creating a digital map of water supply facilities and networks, as well as widespread introduction of SCADA, GIS, telemetry technologies and a unified billing system into the management system.
