Law enforcement in Margilan, Fergana region, has shut down an illegal religious school, known as a 'hujra', where 20 underage girls were given unauthorized religious lessons. The organizer faces criminal charges, while the parents of the students have been held administratively liable.

According to the Fergana Regional Department of Internal Affairs, the violations were uncovered during preventive measures. A joint inspection was conducted by officers from the internal affairs bodies and the State Security Service.

Investigation revealed that a 34-year-old local woman had organized an illegal school in a private home, conducting religious classes for 20 underage girls. Fifteen of the students lived in Margilan, while the others came from Fergana, Tashlak, and Kushtepa districts.

The woman has been charged with violating the established order of teaching religious doctrines. The girls' parents have been held administratively responsible for failing to fulfill their duties in raising and educating their children. The investigation is ongoing.

Authorities remind the public that religious education must only be obtained through legally established procedures and in official institutions. A similar case of illegal religious teaching was previously uncovered in the Bektemir district of Tashkent.
