At a meeting on Tuesday, the head of state conducted a critical analysis of industrial and export indicators for the first six months of the year.

In the first quarter, governors of 13 districts who failed to meet industrial targets and governors of 15 districts who allowed a decline in exports were dismissed. According to the president, most officials learned from this and met the forecast indicators for six months. However, in some districts and cities, industrial growth rates slowed.

For example, in the Yangiabad district, industrial growth was only 1.8% instead of the forecast 5.7%. Growth rates also declined in the city of Gazgan, Muzrabad, Kizirik, and Altiaryk districts.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that in a number of districts and cities, there were no changes in exports. In particular, weak performance was criticized in Kasbi, Denau, and Tashkent districts, the city of Jizzakh, Pakhtaabad district, the city of Navoi, Jambay, Taylak, Bandikhan, Mirzachul, and Yazyavan districts, as well as in the Bektemir district of Tashkent.

The prime minister was instructed to review the suitability of these 17 governors for their positions today.

“If there are no changes by the end of nine months, strict measures will also be taken against deputy governors of regions,” the president said.
