At a meeting held on July 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the introduction of a new work system in the 2,000 most challenging mahallas (neighborhoods). Governors (khokims) will be responsible for timely resolution of issues related to electricity, gas, roads, and water.

In this regard, a 'Urgent 40-Day Period' has been declared. In these mahallas, tripartite agreements between the khokim, the mahalla chairman, and the employment department have been revised.

Officials of the employment system will conduct door-to-door visits to train, employ, and increase incomes of the needy population.

Specific responsibilities have been assigned to leaders of the mahalla system in 8,992 mahallas for beautifying streets and houses, planting trees and seedlings, and keeping ditches clean.

At the meeting, the head of state expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the work of banks in mahallas. Consequently, strong criticism was directed at the regional heads of the Central Bank and heads of state bank branches.

The president stated that this year will be a year of testing and practical attestation for regional and district banks and mahalla associations. A leader who achieves results in the next three months will retain his position, while one who fails to make changes will leave his post.

The Prosecutor General's Office and the Accounts Chamber have been tasked with monitoring the progress and changes in each mahalla.

Issues of cleanliness, living culture, and work with courtyards in mahallas were also critically reviewed. The importance of covering private houses with the activities of management companies was noted.
